As the clock wound down and ARCA Menards Series officials prepared to throw the white flag, there was a vicious crash. The crash forced series officials to end the race, and Jesse Love won the Atlas 100 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds on Sunday (Aug. 21).
Love started on the pole after the lineup was set via owners’ points as per the ARCA rule book. Love led every lap at the 1-mile dirt track and scored his first ARCA victory of this season. The back-to-back ARCA Menards Series West champion earned his second career main ARCA win.
Love led his teammate Buddy Kofoid, but as they approached the white flag, Kofoid never saw Bryce Haugeberg’s No. 12. Kofoid piled into Haugeberg’s car, flipping the No. 12.
