Penske Withdraws Appeal Of Ryan Blaney Pit Crew Penalty

#12: Ryan Blaney, Team Penske, Menards/Dutch Boy Ford Mustang and #12: Jonathan Hassler, Team Penske, Ford Mustang

Team Penske has withdrawn its appeal of a penalty for Ryan Blaney‘s No. 12 NASCAR Cup Series team stemming from Bristol Motor Speedway, FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass tweeted Sept. 26.

It was announced on Sept. 20 that the No. 12 team was penalized for a loose wheel infraction when Blaney’s car lost a wheel on pit road at Bristol Motor Speedway. Blaney’s crew chief Jonathan Hassler, jackman Graham Stoddard and rear tire changer Zachary Price were suspended for four races.

Team Penske appealed the penalty on Sept. 23, allowing Blaney to retain his crew members this past weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. Blaney finished fourth in the event.

Those three crew members will now serve their four-race suspensions during the races at Talladega Superspeedway, the Charlotte ROVAL, Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Miles Stanley will fill in for Hassler as Blaney’s crew chief this weekend.

Blaney currently sits fifth in points with a 15-point advantage over the cut line with two races remaining in the Round of 12. He has earned nine top fives, 14 top 10s and six stage wins in 2022.
