Travis Pastrana, an internationally-famed motorsports celebrity and stunt man and star of the popular “Nitro Circus” television shows and films, got a dose of actual nitro on Monday when he piloted an 11,000 horsepower Top Fuel Dragster.
Pastrana, known for his television and competitive exploits in supercross, motocross, freestyle motocross, rally racing, and even NASCAR’s Truck series, climbed aboard Scott Palmer’s dragster at the zMax Dragway in Charlotte, North Carolina on Monday, completing a couple of short squirts to get his feet wet. The arrangement was made possible through Pastrana’s friendship with Alex Laughlin. Laughlin, Palmer, and another recent rookie to nitro racing, Tony Stewart, all shepherded Pastrana in his crash-course in drag racing and the controls of a Top Fuel car during the outing.
