Cole Custer on Pole For Xfinity Series Race at Phoenix

Cole Custer wins NASCAR Xfinity Series pole at Phoenix Raceway, NKP

Cole Custer got off to a good start on Saturday (March 11), winning the pole for the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Phoenix Raceway.

The United Rentals 200 is slated for later in the day.

Custer’s lap of 129.959 mph was good enough to hold off Justin Allgaier for his 13th career Xfinity Series Pole. Allgaier will start second, with Daniel Hemric, John Hunter Nemechek and Sheldon Creed completing the top five.

Chandler Smith looking to bounce back from his near win at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, starts sixth, with Josh Berry, Austin Hill, Ryan Sieg and Riley Herbst rounding out the top 10.

Parker Kligerman crashed on his qualifying lap in turn 1 and will move to a backup car, Kyle Busch did not run a qualifying lap, as the team was making adjustments to his car.

Timmy Hill qualified the No. 66 car instead of Brian Weber. Nemechek suffered damage to his nose during practice after making contact with Weber, and the No. 20 team had to tape up the nose up before Nemechek was able to qualify. Hill was the lone driver to fail to qualify for the 38 starting spots.

When Custer leads the field to green, he will be trying to win the first race for an Xfinity regular in a Ford since 2021.

The United Rentals 200 will air on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1.
