Deubler, “The Voice” of flat track, will also serve as
race announcer for the seven-day event
PICKERINGTON, OH – March 29, 2023 – (Motor Sports NewsWire) – The Mission Foods AMA Flat Track Grand Championship — the country’s most prestigious amateur flat track event — will return on June 14-20 at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds in Du Quoin, Ill., with flat track announcer and historian Scottie Deubler as the event’s Grand Marshal.
The Mission Foods AMA Flat Track Grand Championship, promoted and operated by the American Motorcyclist Association, has been the premier flat track event since the mid-1970s and is the only race in the country where you can earn an AMA National No. 1 plate in amateur flat track racing.
Deubler, known as “The Voice” of flat track in racing circles, is a third-generation flat tracker who raced in the sport’s premier class, competing at renowned tracks like the Daytona Short Track, the Springfield Mile and Du Quoin’s legendary “Magic Mile.” After hanging up his own steel shoe, Deubler began announcing races in 2002, and just returned for his 15th season of announcing American Flat Track.
“I’m honored and blown away to be recognized and asked to serve as the Grand Marshal at the Mission Foods AMA Flat Track Grand Championship,” Deubler said. “I love going to the event and seeing the up-and-comers who I’ll be talking about in the next few years when they go pro, as well as watching the older guys who raced with me and even before me. It’s an honor to be a part of the action this year.”
AMA Track Racing Manager Ken Saillant added that Deubler brings a wealth of experience and flat track knowledge as the announcer of the event. “Few people know more about flat track than Scottie Deubler, and racers of all ages know who he is and appreciate his dedication to the sport. We look forward to having him serve as both race announcer and Grand Marshal of the event this June.”
