Alex Bowman Claims 1st Pole of 2024, Hendrick Sweeps Top 3 at Bristol

Alex Bowman won the pole for Friday night’s (Sept. 20) Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway by setting a time of 15.142 seconds around the .533-mile oval.

Bowman will be joined on the front row by his Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kyle Larson who was the fastest of the group A cars with a time of 15.183 seconds.

William Byron will start right behind his Hendrick teammates in the second row. Joe Gibbs Racing driver Martin Truex Jr. will be alongside the No. 24 as he looks to advance into the Round of 12. Chase Briscoe rounds out the top five.

Christopher Bell, Carson Hocevar, Denny Hamlin, Corey LaJoie and Chase Elliott complete the top 10.

Playoff drivers Ty Gibbs and Tyler Reddick will start 13th and 15th, respectively. The Team Penske drivers struggled in qualifying with Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney and Austin Cindric starting 20th, 22nd and 27th respectively. 

Brad Keselowski will roll off deep in the field, starting 23rd. Harrison Burton and Daniel Suarez were the slowest of the playoff drivers and will start 34th and 35th. 

All 37 entries set a timed lap and will race on Saturday night.

The final race of the round of 16 kicks off Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. ET with coverage on USA Network.
