Earlier today, Red Bull Racing confirmed the departure of Daniel Ricciardo, expressing gratitude for his contributions across two separate stints with the team.

Following Ricciardo’s departure, Red Bull Racing announced that Lawson, who has served as a reserve driver since 2022, will take on the role starting with the upcoming United States Grand Prix in Austin.

Lawson made his Grand Prix debut last year at Zandvoort as a substitute for the injured Ricciardo, impressing with a series of strong performances over five races, culminating in his first points finish with a ninth-place at the Singapore Grand Prix.

The decision to replace Ricciardo with Lawson for the final six races of the season follows deliberations at the senior leadership level within Red Bull Racing. This move allows the team to evaluate Lawson alongside his teammate Yuki Tsunoda, who is enjoying a standout season and has already secured a contract for next year.

Laurent Mekies, team principal of Red Bull Racing, expressed gratitude to Ricciardo for his dedication and professionalism during his tenure with the team, highlighting his positive impact both on and off the track.

“We are thankful for Daniel’s contributions over the past two seasons,” Mekies said. “His experience and talent have greatly benefited the team, and his positive attitude has fostered a strong team spirit.
