Kasey Kahne will return to NASCAR in a third Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Xfinity Series car at Rockingham Speedway, RCR announced Jan. 24.
Kahne will drive the No. 33 as a teammate to full-time drivers Austin Hill and Jesse Love.
HendrickCars.com will sponsor the effort.
“I’m excited to get back behind the wheel of a stock car, especially at a place like Rockingham Speedway,” Kahne said in a team release. “Rockingham has been a special track throughout my career. I remember winning the [NASCAR Craftsman] Truck Series race in 2012 when the sport went back there last, so to be a part of the current return is cool.
“Very appreciative of the opportunity that Mr. [Rick] Hendrick, Richard (Childress) and everyone at RCR have given me, along with the support of HendrickCars.com, Chevrolet, Curb Records and Karavan Trailers. I look forward to hitting the track next week for the test.”
Kahne is the first driver announced to RCR’s No. 33 for 2025. In 2024, Kyle Busch drove the car in one race.
“Kasey is a great driver and a fierce competitor,” Childress added. “Our Xfinity Series program is top notch, and we look forward to watching Kasey race with Austin and Jesse for an exciting return to Rockingham Speedway. With Kasey behind the wheel, we expect the No. 33 to have a shot at winning the race.”
Kahne last ran a NASCAR race in 2018 when he ran most of the NASCAR Cup Series schedule for Leavine Family Racing.
He has 215 career Xfinity starts, most recently in 2017, with eight wins, 46 top fives and 87 top 10s.
