I’ve been racing karts for a few years now and want to know the best way to move over to cars. I’m not looking to “go pro” by any means and I don’t want a “fastest way to f1” kind of deal, I just want to know what good, cheap grassroots options there are for cars. It can be open wheel, stock cars, sports cars, touring cars, literally anything.

My main obstacle right now is cost. I had planned to try and get my racing license through skip barber’s f4 program, but given the hefty price tag, I don’t know how realistic this is. I had looked at buying a cheap Miata or something similar that was built for the scca, but I’m concerned about reliability with used race cars. Does anyone have any recommendations for this?

Edit: I also wouldn’t be opposed to looking at something like shifters/super karts, but again I know those can get very expensive very quickly.
