Ricky Taylor moved in the lead in the #10 Acura ARX-05 minutes after the latest round of pitstops, leapfrogging the similar machine of Meyer Shank driver Helio Castroneves, who took over the driving duties from Tom Blomqvist.
Blomqvist had propelled the #60 Acura ARX-05 to the front of the field after the 14th caution to the race, barging past the #31 Action Express Racing of Tristan Nunez at the restart – having already jumped Tristan Vautier in the #5 JDC-Miller Cadillac for second in the pits.
Nunez was then forced wide off the track by Vautier at the International Horseshoe, dropping to fifth and last among the DPi runners on the lead lap. Vautier was adjudged to be responsible for the incident, earning the JDC-Miller racer a drive-through penalty that he served immediately afterwards.
