The eight-time WRC champion has struck a deal to pilot the #1 Richard Mille Racing Oreca-Gibson alongside former WRT LMP2 driver – and reigning class champion – Charles Milesi and 20-year-old rising star Lilou Wadoux, the first female race winner in the Alpine Elf Europa Cup.
Ogier revealed ambitions to race in WEC last year with a tilt at the Le Mans 24 Hours among his goals after confirming plans to scale back his WRC commitments to a partial season with Toyota to allow the 38-year-old to explore circuit racing opportunities.
The Frenchman has already tested Toyota’s GR010 HYBRID Hypercar twice having participated in last year’s WEC rookie test in Bahrain last November, followed by an outing at Spain’s Aragon circuit last week, after finishing second in the Monte Carlo Rally.
Prior to the WRC season opener earlier this month, Ogier hinted that he was edging closer to confirming his circuit racing plans for 2022, which could include a Le Mans outing.
