WTR Acura drivers bemoan lack of Sebring 12H yellows

Saturday’s second round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season featured seven cautions, one fewer than the eight seen last year and two less than the nine that occurred in 2020.

However, while the final caution came inside the final half-hour of the 2021 race, this time the final four-and-a-half hours were held under green flag conditions.

The #10 WTR Acura ARX-05 shared by Albuquerque, Ricky Taylor and Will Stevens had led at the eight-hour mark, but an unusual error from Stevens, who picked up a drive-through penalty for using the wrong exit to rejoin the track after a pitstop, in the ninth hour dropped the car down the order.

From there, the dearth of yellows meant was no way for WTR to recover the lost time, leaving the trio a distant fourth behind an-all Cadillac podium at the finish.
