That’s a career-best 5 wins in a season for Monster Energy/Kawasaki’s Jason Anderson; Monster/Pro Circuit/Kawi’s Austin Forkner gets first win of ‘22
CORONA, CA – April 25, 2022 – (Motor Sports NewsWire) – Scoring his second Monster Energy AMA Supercross main event win in a row, and a career-best 5th in a season, Jason Anderson (Monster Energy/Kawasaki) continued to battle and stall fellow Monster Energy-backed racer Eli Tomac’s (Star Racing/Yamaha) charge to secure the premier 450cc class title before season’s end. Anderson was joined on Saturday’s podium at the home of the New England Patriots – Gillette Stadium – by Monster Energy-backed Chase Sexton (Honda), who placed 2nd.
With the victory for Anderson, coupled with Tomac’s 7th place finish, means that, should Anderson be able to win at Denver’s Empower Field at Mile High next Saturday (April 16), Tomac would have to finish 6th or better to wrap up the 2022 Monster Energy AMA Supercross championship – a race early.
“It’s a bummer for me because I want to be in the position he (Tomac) is in, or at least giving him a harder time,” said Anderson. “But I’m going to make him take it another week and help him out and let him do it in his home state of Colorado.”
Anderson continued: “It’s a good win for me. I’m just trying to get better and better. I have a goal in sight and I’m working towards it. It’s nice to see come success along the way.”
Joining Anderson on the top step of the rostrum in the support 250cc Eastern Supercross (ESX) class was Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Austin Forkner. Forkner’s first win of the season, and 12th of his career, put him into the overall ESX top ten (9th) despite missing four races with a broken collarbone.
Also noteworthy at Foxborough was Monster Energy’s Supercross Futures racer, Chance Hymas (Honda), who won the young, up-and-coming racers’ exhibition contest by 35 seconds.
