Martin Brundle has said he dislikes doing grid walks after his latest one before the Miami Grand Prix went viral.
It seems whenever F1 travels to the US, one thing is certain in that viewers will be treated, or subjected to depending on your persuasion, to one of the more cringeworthy grid walks from Sky Sports F1’s Martin Brundle.
Brundle has been doing the grid walk since 1997 but it seems in the last few years they have amassed a growing online following, particularly when F1 is in the US.
The first viral incident came at the 2021 United States Grand Prix in Austin when Brundle had a run-in with Megan Thee Stallion as well as her bodyguard. After trying to ask the rapper her opinion on the upcoming race, Brundle was stopped by her bodyguard and later tweeted they should have some respect on “our patch.”
In Miami, the number of celebrities went up another level with seemingly anyone who is anyone on the grid before Sunday’s race.
Brundle was again given the unenviable task of trying to push his way through the mess of people before him as well as deciding who to shove a microphone in front for a quick interview.

Some of the highlights of Sunday’s attempt included mistaking basketball player Paolo Banchero for Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, a 26-second monologue from DJ Khaled on the wonders of Miami and being blanked by David Beckham.
The Banchero-Mahomes mix up went viral and fans were still talking about it even after racing had got underway and Brundle had returned to the familiar surroundings of his commentary box.
