Carson Hocevar won his first career pole for tonight’s (June 11) NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Sonoma Raceway after he posted a fast lap of 91.135 mph in the second round of qualifying.
Unfortunately, right after he went to the top of the board, he crashed and his truck suffered heavy rear-end damage. The team will bring out the backup, and Hocevar will drop to the rear.
The crash comes after his wreck at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway last week. He broke his tibia and had surgery, but was approved to practice and race.
Hocevar’s Niece Motorsports teammate Ross Chastain qualified second after he went 90.492 mph. Kyle Busch starts third, Ty Majeski is fourth and Tyler Ankrum rounds out the top five.
Alex Bowman is sixth and John Hunter Nemechek, who was fastest in the first group in round 1 of qualifying, begins seventh. Grant Enfinger, Hailie Deegan and Stewart Friesen finishes up the top 10 in the lineup.
The No. 47 truck withdrew.
The DoorDash 250 airs June 11 at 7:30 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1.
