Drag racing is a sport that’s full of risks, and that’s why it’s important racers adhere to the rules when it comes to required safety equipment. Big wheel racer Ezzy Jackson needed all his safety gear when he went for a terrifying ride at Capital City Motorsports Park after his turbocharged Oldsmobile Cutlas violently rolled through the top end.
Jackson’s Cutlass was lined up against a fellow big wheel racer that goes by the name of “Starmac” for their G-body showdown. As the race unfolded, Jackson was able to pull away from his opponent to pick up the win, but just past the finish line, things got ugly. The Cutlass Jackson was driving turned violently to the left without warning, transforming Jackson from a driver to a passenger on a rough ride.
Jackson struck Starmac in the other lane before he made hard contact with the wall. After the Cutlas struck the wall, it began to roll upwards of eight times through the shutdown area before it came to a rest on its wheels. In the footage from Donkmaster TV and StackmindzENT’s YouTube channels, you can see just how lucky Jackson was to walk away from this crash.
Thankfully, the Matty Ryan-built chassis did its job and kept Jackson safe during his harrowing ride. Jackson was injured, but he was able to ultimately walk away from the twisted wreckage. This crash demonstrates just how important it is to have the right safety gear and a properly built chassis. Jackson has already found a replacement for his wrecked Cutlass and is gearing for a return to the track.
