Defending Camping World SRX Series champion and former NTT IndyCar Series race winner Marco Andretti announced via Twitter today that he will be joining forces with Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine Racing to run the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL NASCAR Xfinity Series race on Oct. 8, 2022 in the No. 48 Chevrolet.

After retiring from full-time NTT IndyCar Series competition at the end of 2020, Andretti made his stock car debut in the SRX Series, scoring the 2022 championship in addition to one win and four podiums in 12 starts.

Andretti, the 35-year-old grandson of former Indianapolis 500, Daytona 500 and Formula 1 champion Mario Andretti, will be making his NASCAR debut.

Andretti’s Tweet was accompanied by a photo taken at IndyCar’s Big Machine Music City Grand Prix showing him with Mario, Borchetta and Marco’s father, IndyCar champion and Andretti Autosport team owner Michael Andretti.

While both Mario and the late John Andretti have wins in NASCAR Cup Series competition, Marco will attempt to be the first member of the illustrious Andretti family to win in the Xfinity Series when he takes the green flag in the Drive for the Cure 250 at the Charlotte ROVAL, airing Oct. 8 at 3 p.m. ET on NBC.
