It turns out that if you don’t have experience or common sense, and fail to properly plan, even closed course isn’t a safe environment.
The Dobre brothers are four brothers who have amassed nearly 11 million followers on YouTube by filming “experiments, vlogs, dance videos, and pranks”….in other words, basically everything but performance driving. But every young guy with a fast car believes he’s a performance driver. So the Dobre’s and a small handful of supercars by some means got into 75/80 Dragway in Monrovia, Maryland, closed since 2013, and were filming high-speed runs up and down the dragstrip. Older brother Darius, driving a 640 horsepower Lamborghini Huracan STO, had a camera onboard as he sped down the strip in reverse, unaware of any markers or locators that someone fluent in drag racing would possess. Not until around the 200-foot mark (going towards the starting line, mind you), as his brothers frantically waved their arms, did Darius finally apply the brakes. That, of course, was much too late to stop, as he slid sideways and crashed into a berm and a fence behind the burnout box, doing what we can only assume are some costly damages to the Italian supercar.
Moral of the story: know what you’re doing before you go out and do it. That is, unless your revenue stream comes from crashing expensive cars on camera.
