After a rain delay of more than 12 hours, the NASCAR Cup Series’ 2022 regular-season finale finally went green early Sunday morning (Aug. 28) before rain late in the race extended it several hours. A chaotic day ended with an upset winner, Austin Dillon emerging in a race that saw 29 of its 37 cars involved in crashes and only 16 cars left running at the end. Just 10 of those drivers ended the race on the lead lap.
Adam Cheek and Frontstretch editor-in-chief Tom Bowles break down all the action from Sunday, including the sudden rain that triggered the biggest crash of the day. Should NASCAR have gone back racing and could they have prevented a disastrous wreck when the downpour began?
Also, the duo discuss whether the elimination of fourth-in-points Martin Truex Jr. mean tweaks to the playoff system are coming soon. Plus: will Truex still win before the 2022 season is out?
