NASCAR’s damaged vehicle policy has received an update prior to the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs, NASCAR announced Aug. 31.

Teams will now have 10 minutes on the time clock before their cars are ruled out of the race.

When first introduced in 2017, the DVP allowed teams a total of five minutes on pit lane to repair crash damage and attain minimum speed in order to continue on in the race.

This was later upped to six minutes the next season.

NASCAR said the change was made in collaboration with teams throughout the season following learnings on repair times of the Next Gen cars.
