Sammy Smith Leads Every Lap, Wins ARCA Race At Salem

Sammy Smith was perfect at Salem Speedway on Saturday, October 1. He won the pole, led every lap, and won the ARCA Menards Series’ Herr’s Snacks 200.

Smith led all 200 laps, becoming the second driver to lead every lap at an ARCA event in 2022. Jesse Love led every lap at the 1-mile dirt track, the Illinois State Fairgrounds. Coincidentally, Love finished second to Smith at Salem.

Love finished runner-up one year after winning the ARCA event at Salem.

Daniel Dye finished third and gained three points on series leader Nick Sanchez with only one race left in the 2022 ARCA season.

Hometown favorite Will Kimmel finished fourth, earning his fifth top five and seventh top 10 at the 0.555-mile short track.

Taylor Gray finished fifth after starting second.

Sanchez finished sixth. His points lead shrunk to two points as the ARCA season will conclude in one week (Saturday, Oct. 8) at Toledo Speedway.

There were only two cautions in the penultimate ARCA race of the season. As a result, only six drivers finished on the lead lap.

Greg Van Alst finished seventh, followed by the two full-time women Toni Breidinger and Amber Balcaen in eighth and ninth place, respectively.

Bryce Haugeberg tied his career-best ARCA finish with a 10th place finish.

The ARCA season wraps up with the Shore Lunch 200 at Toledo on Oct. 8. The 200 lap race will take place at 4 p.m. ET with TV coverage provided by MAVTV Motorsports Network and available on FloRacing.
