Shirey Secures 2022 AMA National Hare and Hound Championship

Husqvarna’s Dalton Shirey locks up second career title after Round 7 win

PICKERINGTON, OH – October 1, 2022 – (Motor Sports NewsWire) – The American Motorcyclist Association congratulates Dalton Shirey, who clinched his second AMA National Hare and Hound Championship on Sunday.

The 3 Bros Hatch Husqvarna Racing rider finished more than 2 minutes ahead of the competition at Round 7, which took place Sept. 24-25 in Lovelock, Nev.

“I had a pretty good start,” Shirey said, “but the dust was so bad and everyone was going in every different direction, so the first 10 miles were chaos for me, and I told myself I need to stay calm and collected. Once we started filing into line, I was fourth behind Jacob [Argubright] and I could see two other dust clouds ahead. I found Joe just sitting there broken down, and from there on I told myself I have to keep it on two wheels, finish and do my job. Wrapping up the championship a round early was really cool. I haven’t been in that situation before, so that was really neat.”

The penultimate-round performance gave Shirey an insurmountable 54-point buffer over second in the Pro Class Championship standings.

The 2022 season will officially conclude Oct. 22-23 with Round 8 in Lucerne Valley, Calif.
