Daily Fantasy NASCAR DraftKings Forecast: 2022 South Point 400

Questions Answered After 2022 Coca-Cola 600

The Round of 8 begins in the NASCAR Cup Series this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Which drivers should you gamble on in your daily fantasy NASCAR DraftKings lineups for the South Point 400 (airing Sunday, Oct. 16 at 2;30 p.m. ET on NBC)? Let’s find out.

Teams finally get some (hopefully) normal races in this round of the playoffs after enduring a crash-filled Texas Motor Speedway, an unexpectedly tame Talladega Superspeedway and the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL.

They’ll head west to Las Vegas, another 1.5-mile racetrack that hasn’t been run at since the first part of the year. Not to worry, though, because they’ve raced at Kansas Speedway and Texas in the playoffs, as well as the Charlotte oval at the end of May. These are three other 1.5-milers that are relative to LVMS, though the Texas race was a bit more wild with all the blown tires and crashes. As I’ve mentioned in previous columns, Atlanta Motor Speedway is more like Daytona International Speedway than other 1.5-miles due to its new configuration, so you don’t need to look at those results from this year.

Also, examine past races in Sin City to see which drivers tend to perform well there. Lastly, take a look at the practice and qualifying results, which airs Saturday at 12:05 p.m. ET on USA Network. Though drivers won’t have much time to practice, you can still see who has speed right off the bat and who might have made the right adjustments. And if a driver in good equipment has trouble and needs to start in the back, they’ll likely be a good option for your lineup.

Before I share which drivers I’m rolling the dice on this week, here’s a look back at the results from the Charlotte ROVAL:

Salary Driver DraftKings Score
$10,500.00 Tyler Reddick 44
$9,600.00 Joey Logano 16.55
$9,000.00 Ross Chastain -21.8
$7,800.00 Chris Buescher 53.45
$7,300.00 Michael McDowell 1.25
$5,700.00 Todd Gilliland 14.45
$49,900.00 Total 107.9

I shifted off of Ross Chastain to Austin Cindric after Chastain had a crash in the second round of qualifying Saturday. Neither driver scored well, but Chastain’s score was significantly worse, as he had to go to the garage around lap 86 for a suspension issue.

As far as the other drivers in this lineup, Tyler Reddick lost some spots after the last restart; before that he was ahead of Christopher Bell, who ended up winning. Michael McDowell was also running near the top 10 when a restart around lap 107 went awry for…
