Former Formula One driver and IndyCar poleman, Romain Grosjean, takes on a new career challenge, acting as an official Factory Driver for Lamborghini with Iron Lynx, the Italian brand confirmed on Tuesday.
Experienced French driver, Romain Grosjean, has joined forces with the emblematic brand Lamborghini and its team partner Iron Lynx.
He will fulfill the role of an official Lamborghini Factory Driver, which will see him taking part in the GT3 campaign in 2023 while helping to develop the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship-bound Lamborghini Hypercar.
“It’s an honor to be joining Lamborghini, it’s such an iconic brand for everyone who loves cars, including myself and my kids,” he said.
Grosjean’s debut with Lamborghini Squadra Corse will take place at the 24 Hours of Daytona behind the wheel of a Huracan GT3 EVO2, teaming up with factory drivers Andrea Caldarelli and Mirko Bortolotti. A fourth driver is yet to be announced, completing the drivers’ line-up.
Moreover, together they will help develop the Lamborghini Hypercar as test drivers and part of the race program for the LMDh project, which consists of entering the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2024 alongside Iron Lynx.
“I am very excited about two things. The first is starting in Daytona with the GT3, which has been very successful in Daytona, and a really good team like Iron Lynx, and teammates around me, that is going to be a nice discovery for myself,” he asserted.
“And then, later in the year, developing the new LMDh which is a beautiful car – I am lucky to have seen it – and an incredible project in endurance.”
“It’s becoming a very exciting category with all the constructors coming. With Lamborghini being such a successful brand, I hope we can do well in the future.”
The man who survived a horrific accident at the F1 Bahrain Grand Prix two years ago moved in 2021 to the NTT IndyCar Series after nine years at the pinnacle of motorsport, making 180 race starts and adding ten podiums to his name.
Grosjean,36, adapted quickly to the IndyCar family, delivering solid performances, claiming three podium finishes and two-second places driving for Dale Coyne Racing with RWR throughout his rookie season.
