The big block Chevy is a legendary engine platform that’s been used in every kind of high-performance application you can think of. Each generation of the big block Chevy has seen performance and durability improvements over the engine’s previous iterations. Moroso now offers a fabricated oil pan for the Gen V and Gen VI big block Chevy engine.
The new pans are for wet sump oil systems, are eight inches deep, and have the capacity to hold seven quarts of oil. Moroso designed the pans to be used on rear sump-style engines, and they’ll clear 4.75 stroke with most aluminum rods. Each pan uses a race pan rail bolt pattern as well.
Moroso’s Brett Corriveau explains why the company developed these new oil pans for the big block Chevy.
“We had some great fabricated oil pans for the older big block Chevy engines and used what we learned with those pans to create these new pans. The pans are very durable and use billet front and rear end seals for better sealing with the block. This helps to fight crankcase pressure to keep everything sealed up. We also added bracing to the pan to increase its strength.”
The double kick-out design, along with the solid louvered windage tray that features main cap partitions allows the pans to provide improved oil control. The pans will work with both Moroso spur gear, and georoter-style billet oil pumps. The pans come with a 1/4″ N.P.T. dipstick provision.
