Williams Racing introduces the FW45 challenger livery at its headquarters in Grove ahead of the 2023 season of the FIA Formula One world championship.
The new visual identity of Williams Racing 2023 challenger embodies the essence of its predecessor, the FW44 while adjusting to the technical regulations for the upcoming season, updated by the FIA.
The FW45 holds on to the diamond-shaped livery design showcased last year but on a matte blue with the fine red and blue lines that distinguish the British squad from any other on the grid.
As the team highlights, the evolutions see a new sidepod concept, “optimizing the power unit cooling layout.”
Meanwhile, the optimizations continue in the front suspension layout as the major external aerodynamic surfaces, resulting in “a more aerodynamically efficient car than the FW44, with more overall downforce and improved handling characteristics.”
In addition, the floor edges have been raised to comply with the technical regulations updated by the FIA.
The livery also features de logos of the new partners that have joined the team founded by the late Sir Frank Williams, Gulf Oil, Stephens, Michelob ULTRA, and PureStream.
Matthew Savage, Chairman of the Board, commented: “As Williams Racing continues its transformation, we’re proud to unveil this year’s livery.
“We are excited about this year’s car, and I cannot thank the entire team at Grove enough for their hard work to get ready for the season.”
Adding: “I am delighted to welcome both new and existing partners to our journey. With our new Team Principal James Vowles joining us later this month, as well as our exciting driver line-up of Alex and Logan, Williams Racing will be giving its all in 2023.”
Motorsport engineer James Vowles will join the outfit from Mercedes AMG-F1 Team on February 20th as its new Team Principal, following the departure of Jost Capito.
With a successful 21-year career at the pinnacle of motorsport under his name, Vowles will arrive just in time for pre-season testing, commencing on February 23rd and spanning over three days at the Bahrain International Circuit, kicking off the 2023 season.
The week before, the FW45 will hit the track in Silverstone on February 13th with the team’s new pairing at the wheel, Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant.
