FuelTech’s Luis de Leon, now a well-traveled racer in his own right, announced this week that he has partnered with veteran doorslammer racer Jack Greene to campaign his nitrous oxide-assisted 1969 Camaro in Radial versus The World this season.
“I’ve been friends with Jack and Arnold, the two brothers, for some time now. After Xavier [McBride] moved to FuelTech with the Devil Horse car, the whole team went full FuelTech and our relationship grew closer. They sold their Radial versus The World car, the Warbird, and Jack put the Pro 275 Cadillac together. But they had this Pro Mod in the shop and several people teased us to try getting the outright nitrous record, so we put this together with me in it. It’s a crazy light combination, at 2,250 pounds.”
De Leon adds, “doing this stuff while running FuelTech as business is great, as it allows me to see firsthand what the customer needs. It also strengthens the relationship with dealers, promoters, and sanctioning bodies.”
Greene’s car features a Buck Racing Engines 959 cubic-inch monster, an M&M TH400 transmission and converter, and Menscer Motorsports suspension components.
