John Hunter Nemechek is back in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
Nemechek, a 13-time winner in the series, will compete in TRICON Garage’s No. 17 Toyota Tundra in the next two races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Atlanta Motor Speedway, the team announced Feb. 23.
Nemechek currently runs full time with Joe Gibbs Racing in the No. 20 in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
He has 147 career Truck starts with seven wins in the last two years in the series, driving full time for Kyle Busch Motorsports.
The 25-year-old from Mooresville, N.C., will run with TRICON’s partner Berry’s Manufacturing at Las Vegas. Sponsorship for Atlanta is pending.
Nemechek is the second driver to fill in for Taylor Gray in the No. 17, following Sammy Smith at Daytona International Speedway. Gray will take over the truck for the remainder of the season after Atlanta, once he turns 18.
Smith finished 14th at Daytona. Nemechek, in the Xfinity race, finished third.
Nemechek and TRICON will make their first appearance together on March 3 at the Victoria’s Voice Foundation 200 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway at 9 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1.
