Cody Ware Arrested in North Carolina

NASCAR Cup Series

Cody Ware was arrested April 10 in Iredell County, North Carolina, according to a report from Iredell Free News and confirmed by Frontstretch.

According to Iredell County jail records, Ware was booked Monday morning at the Iredell County Detention Facility in Statesville, N.C. Current records show him as still in custody as of 1 p.m. ET Monday.

Iredell Free News reports that Ware faces a felony charge for assault by strangulation, as well as misdemeanor assault on a woman. His bond was set at $3,000.

Neither Ware nor his NASCAR Cup Series team, Rick Ware Racing, has commented on the report.

Further details about the arrest are not yet known.

Ware sat out at the Bristol Motor Speedway dirt track last weekend “to focus on a personal matter,” per a RWR release at the time. Matt Crafton substituted for Ware, finishing 34th due to late-race engine woes.

In seven starts in 2023, Ware has a best finish of 14th in the Daytona 500.
