Cody Ware Faces Additional Charges Following Investigation

Cody Ware prepares for Clash at the L.A. Coliseum, NKP

Cody Ware, who was suspended by NASCAR after being arrested on separate counts of felony assault by strangulation and misdemeanor assault on a female on April 10, is now facing additional charges against him. He was released after posting a $3,000 bond.

Friday (April 14), Ware turned himself back to Iredell County Detention Center for additional misdemeanor charges: assault inflicting serious injury and communicating threats. His bond for the additional charges is placed at $5,000.

Both the previous charges and the new charges following an ICSO investigation are a result of actions that took place on April 3 when a woman called 9-1-1 and reported domestic assault according to the ICSO.

Prior to his first arrest, Ware announced he would step away from racing to focus on a personal matter and was replaced by Matt Crafton at Bristol Motor Speedway’s dirt race.

The suspended Ware will be replaced by reigning NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion Zane Smith in the No. 51 Ford Mustang for Rick Ware Racing at this weekend’s race at Martinsville Speedway.

RWR has communicated on Twitter that Ware is fully cooperating with authorities.
