The reigning NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion Zane Smith won the pole for tonight’s (April 14) race at Martinsville Speedway. Smith qualifies with the fastest lap of 95.651 mph.

Smith wins his third career pole in the Truck Series. He beats winningest Truck Series driver Kyle Busch by .15 mph; Busch is looking to get Kyle Busch Motorsports its 100th win.

Smith, who leads the points standings for the Truck Series, finished 21st last week at Bristol Motor Speedway’s dirt race and was in contention for the win at Texas Motor Speedway two weeks ago until Nick Sanchez got spun and took him and Christian Eckes, who starts sixth, out. Smith has two wins at Daytona International Speedway and Circuit of the Americas.

Former Truck champion Ben Rhodes starts third. Corey Heim was the fastest Toyota and will start fourth, and Matt DiBenedetto will start fifth.

Eckes, Texas winner Carson Hocevar, Chase Purdy, Tanner Gray, and Grant Enfinger round out the top 10.

Dean Thompson did not make a lap due to unapproved adjustments. He will be starting last in 36thposition.

Josh Reaume was on the entry list for the race but withdrew from the race.

Justin Carroll in the No. 90 was the only driver that did not qualify for the race.

Smith will lead the field to the green flag at the paperclip in his Long John Silver’s No. 38 Ford F-150 for the Long John Silver’s 200 on Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET. Coverage will be on FOX Sports 1.
