Doriane Pin dominated qualifying for the first round of the new F1 Academy season in Jeddah, securing pole position for both this weekend’s races.
Pin, who raced for Prema in LMP2 in last year’s World Endurance Championship and with Iron Dames this season, was fastest by over seven tenths of a second from Abbi Pulling at the end of the session.
The Mercedes-supported driver will also start Saturday’s second race of the weekend from pole position after her second-best time was superior to the second-best times of her 15 rivals.
Alpine-backed Pulling was the only one who came within a second of the pole winner, with Ferrari-backed Maya Weug taking third on the grid. Nerea Martin will start ahead of McLaren-junior Bianca Bustamante in fourth and fifth, while Lola Lovinfosse took sixth and Williams-backed Lia Block in seventh, despite losing her last time for exceeding track limits along the pit straight.
Haas-supported driver Chloe Chambers took eighth on the grid with Aurelia Nobels and Jessica Edgar completing the top 10.
Race one will take place on Friday morning, ahead of final practice for Formula 1. The second race will be run on Saturday morning ahead of the Formula 2 feature race.
