Ferrari unveil one-off blue livery for Miami Grand Prix

MIAMI, Florida — Ferrari has released the first images of its one-off Miami Grand Prix livery, featuring blue highlights on the wings, engine cover, halo and wheel rims.

The livery has been billed as a celebration of the team’s history — with a nod towards the blue and white Ferrari 158 John Surtees secured his F1 title in at the 1964 U.S. Grand Prix — as well as a method for drawing attention to new title sponsor, HP.

However, hopes among fans on social media that the livery would be entirely blue were dashed on Wednesday when the team revealed the design, which remains predominantly red.

The two tones of blue, known as Azzurro La Plata and Azzurro Dino, have been used historically on Ferrari racing cars, mostly in the 1960s on customer vehicles.

The team’s kit will also be blue on race day in Miami, with drivers Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc racing in blue overalls throughout the weekend.
