Nascar Xfinity Series #21: Austin Hill, Richard Childress Racing, Bennett Transportation Chevrolet Camaro NKP

Austin Hill has been penalized for his actions toward Cole Custer during the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Hill was fined $25,000 and deducted 25 driver points for violating Section 4.4B in the NASCAR Rule Book pertaining to NASCAR’s Member Code of Conduct.

The guidelines include: Wrecking or spinning another vehicle, whether or not that vehicle is removed from competition as a result, as well as any actions deemed to compromise the safety of an event or otherwise pose a dangerous risk to the safety of Competitors, Officials, spectators or others.

The Nos. 21 and 00 crashed after making contact while racing with 17 laps to go in the race. Hill then proceeded to ram into Custer’s rear until he spun down into the inside wall.

After the penalty, Hill now sits third in points behind Chandler Smith and Custer.

Also, two NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series teams were penalized for lug nut infractions. Crew chiefs Derek Smith and Dylan Cappello were fined $2,500 for one unsecured lug nut on the Nos. 5 and 38 trucks, respectively.
