Just over halfway into the NASCAR Cup Series regular season, the tour heads to The Lou along with the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series for a weekend at World Wide Technology Raceway.

This is the third year WWTR has hosted the Cup Series, featuring the budding of Ross Chastain and Denny Hamlin’s 2022 rivalry in its inaugural Cup event.

The track is known for its pyrotechnics that launch flames into the air on the backstretch, immediately bringing some heat to the action. There will be plenty on hand this weekend for fans to enjoy, from concert performances to dignitaries, as the summer stretch begins.

Grand Marshal: As NASCAR’s annual Salute to Service campaign rolls on, U.S. Air Force General Mike Minihan will have the privilege of giving the command for Cup drivers to fire their engines. A 35-year USAF veteran, Minihan is the Commander of the Air Mobility Command at Scott Air Force Base in St. Clair County, Ill.

Confluence Music Festival: WWT Raceway is set to host the Confluence Music Festival during the weekend, providing a stacked lineup of performances from superstars to local talents.

Headlining the event is rapper and actor, Ludacris. The Illinois native is a three-time GRAMMY Award winner and has starred in several of the Fast and Furious franchise films. He will perform at 5:30 p.m. ET following the Truck race.

After the Enjoy Illinois 300 on June 2, rising country music star Riley Green will take the stage. Green was named the ACM 2020 New Male Artist of the Year. Three of his hits have reached the top of the chart, including platinum songs “There Was This Girl” and “I Wish Grandpas Never Died.”

Several other notable names will be joining Ludacris and Green during the weekend. Former MLB pitcher Adam Wainwright continues to emerge as a country singer, and he will perform at WWT Raceway. Wainwright is a three-time All-Star, two-time World Series champion, and even won the Silver Slugger Award in 2017 as a pitcher.

Additionally, GRAMMY Award winning country artist Gretchen Wilson will also be on the agenda during the festival. Wilson won the 2005 CMA Female Vocalist of the Year and reached number one on the Billboard country charts.
