Author, historian, restorer, and car specialist, Evan Ide, joins RM Sotheby’s, adding to its network of specialist experts around the globe.

With over 20 years experience in the industry, Ide is recognized worldwide as a leading authority in early classic cars, a level of expertise that will greatly benefit the hobby and our clients. Holding a honors degree in fine art from the University of New Hampshire, Ide’s impressive career includes roles as Curator of the Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Brookline, Massachusetts, as well as the authorship of several automotive books and publications, including contribution to “The Stewardship of Historically Important Automobiles”. He advises several major museum collections and has served as guest lecturer at prestigious venues including the Royal Automobile Club, the Blackhawk Museum, and the Simeone Foundation.

An automotive historian, author, restorer, and coming most recently from Bonhams, Ide’s unique and knowledgeable perspective has been highly valued within the collecting hobby for years. He has acted in various advisory roles, including serving on the selection committee for the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Ide’s restoration and conservation work focuses on pre-WWI automobiles with many projects earning top accolades at concours events globally.
