Chambers grabs first victory and ends Pulling’s streak of wins · RaceFans

Chloe Chambers, F1 Academy, Barcelona, 2024

Haas supported driver Chloe Chambers dominated the second F1 Academy race of the weekend to take her first win in the series.

Chambers took the lead from Pulling at the start and never looked back, comfortably driving away to win by over six seconds from the championship leader with Hamda Al Qubaisi finishing third.

When the lights went out, Chambers got the superior launch off the line and won the run to turn one, with Nerea Marti slotting into third ahead of Al Qubaisi. Pulling was eager to not allow Chambers to break away but ran wide at turn nine, bouncing over the exit kerb and losing time.

Chambers put in the fastest lap of the race and managed to pull over a second ahead of the championship leader, limiting the slipstream that Pulling was able to pick up from her in pursuit. Eventually, Pulling began to fall into the clutches of Marti, Al Qubaisi and Mercedes junior Doriane Pin behind, with a four-car battle soon forming.

Al Qubaisi managed to set up Marti for a pass along the main straight to claim third and turned her sights onto Pulling in second place. However, the Alpine junior driver was able to resist and hold onto her position.

But there was nothing Pulling could do about Chambers out front who was now several seconds ahead. She checked off the remaining laps to take the chequered flag for the first time in the series with Pulling 6.6 seconds behind, only thee tenths ahead of Al Qubaisi to complete the podium.

Marti finished in fourth ahead of Pin, with Williams-supported driver Lia Block promoted to sixth ahead of McLaren junior Bianca Bustamante after Bustamante was hit with a five second penalty for jumping the start. Tina Hausmann, Lola Lovinfosse and Emely de Heus claimed the final podium positions.
