Red Bull junior Lindblad becomes F3's first repeat winner of 2024 · RaceFans

Red Bull junior driver Arvid Lindblad took a comfortable victory in the Barcelona feature race to become the first multiple race winner in F3 this season.

The 16-year-old passed Christian Mansell early in the race and never looked back to win by four seconds.

Mansell finished in second place, with Leonardo Fornaroli claiming a podium finish and the championship lead in third.

Pole-winner Mansell held the lead at the start from Lindblad and Nikola Tsolov, until Luke Browning managed to pass Tsolov for third. On the fifth lap, Lindblad challenged Mansell for the lead, successfully moving ahead of the ART driver into turn four.

With clouds rolling in over the Circuit de Catalunya, some drivers reported spots of rain appearing on their visors. With just over ten laps remaining, Mansell reported that a significant amount of rain was beginning to fall in the final sector, leading to many teams preparing wet tyres in the pit lane in case they would prove to be needed.

Lindblad extended his advantage out front to beyond four seconds, but while Browning in third was encouraged to try and pressure Mansell in second – who his team described as “slow” over the radio – the Hitech driver could not stay within DRS range of Mansell and instead had to contend with Tsolov closing on him behind.

The leader remained focused out front and managed his tyres over the race but there was late drama when rain began to fall heavily in the final two laps. Lindblad and the field behind had to tiptoe around the twisty final sector on their worn slick tyres but the leader was able to take the chequered flag without trouble to win by 4.4 seconds from Mansell.

Following a late battle with Browning, Fornaroli managed to snatch the final podium place and take third, while Oliver Goethe also picked off Browning for fourth. Tsolov finished sixth ahead of Alex Dunne, Mari Boya, Dino Beganovic and Noel Leon completing the top ten.

After passing Browning in the closing laps, Fornaroli assumed the lead of the championship ahead of him by five points as the pair overtook former championship leader Gabriele Mini, who failed to score this weekend.
