F1 pictures: 2024 Hungarian Grand Prix build-up

Ayrton Senna tribute kerbs at the Hungaroring, 2024

The Formula 1 teams have arrived at a sweltering Hungaroring for the 13th round of the world championship.

While much of Hungary has experienced several days of consistently hot conditions recently, a downpour hit the paddock during the set-up and caused some damage to McLaren’s motorhome. Its Team Hub had only recently been repaired after a fire broke out at the Spanish Grand Prix and they will not be able to receive guests there this weekend due to the damage.

The paddock has a different look this year as it has been completely renovated since the 2023 round. The track’s configuration remains unchanged but there are a few significant alterations to the run-offs. A strip of grass has been added at turn five and a gravel strip similar to those introduced at the Red Bull Ring now borders turn 12.

The Hungaroring has also become the latest circuit to mark 30 years since the death of Ayrton Senna. The kerbs at turns six and seven have also been painted green and yellow as a tribute, which was also done at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve earlier this year. Senna finished in the top two places at the Hungaroring every year he raced there apart from his final visit in 1993, and won the race three times.
