LONDON, ENGLAND – July 30, 2024 – (Motor Sports NewsWire) – RM Sotheby’s concluded a remarkably successful sale at its inaugural Tegernsee auction on 27 July. In a packed saleroom, in partnership with the brand-new Concours of Elegance Germany, the sale grossed€15,921,925 EUR.
Leading the sale on the night was the stunning 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss. Presenting an incredible opportunity to acquire a barely driven Stirling Moss speedster with only 45 recorded kilometres, the car was subject to intense bidding in the room and over the telephones. Featuring a carbon fibremonocoque and powered by a 5.4-litre supercharged V-8 rated at 641 horsepower, this rare car achieved a fine €3,436,250 EUR when it crossed the block.
This was followed by the 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB/6C by Scaglietti. Presented in its stunning, factory-original combination of Amaranto over a Beige leather interior, this special example was certified by Ferrari Classiche in November 2005 and reinspected in May 2024. Restored by the renowned Bacchelli & Villa (Carrozzeria Auto Sport) in 2004 and was offered for the first time in over 20 years, strongly deserving its €2,536,250 EUR.
Rounding off the top three was the remarkable HWA EVO, a car that represented an unrepeatable opportunity to acquire a build slot for the first production-ready HWA EVO. Painstakingly hand-built as a modern-day interpretation of the legendary Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5-16 Evo II, this example will be powered by a 3.0-litre, twin-turbo V-6 engine; paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. Attracting interest worldwide, and offered directly from HWA, the most successful DTM team of all time, it sold for nearly double its low estimate, achieving €1,310,000 EUR.
Another notable sale was the 2022 RUF SCR. The car offered is chassis 002, and is the first full production car built following the prototype, and is one of a sold-out production run limited to just 70 cars. Among the most engaging driver’s cars of its generation, the RUF SCR is powered by a naturally aspirated, water-cooled, 4-litre flat-six, and this exciting,…
