Joe Gibbs Racing’s William Sawalich won the pole Saturday evening (Aug. 3) for tonight’s ARCA Menards Series Shore Lunch 250 at Elko Speedway with a lap at 93.796 mph. It is Sawalich’s sixth ARCA Menards Series pole of the 2024 season in only eight attempts. It is also his fourth pole in a row.
Sawalich started from pole last year at Elko after qualifying was rained out. He led the first 17 laps before finishing second to Jesse Love.
Sawalich’s lap is not a track record. The current ARCA track record at Elko is a lap at 94.525 mph, set in 2014 by current NASCAR Cup Series regular Justin Haley. He finished third that night to Grant Enfinger.
Sawalich won the pole by .045 seconds over Venturini Motorsports’ Kris Wright, who will start in a career-best second. Teammate Isabella Robusto will roll off third, then Rev Racing teammates Lavar Scott and Andres Perez. The top-five qualifiers were separated by .183 seconds.
Other notables include current ARCA Menards Series West runner-up in points Sean Hingorani in sixth, Greg Van Alst seventh, Toni Breidinger ninth and debutante EJ Tamayo in 10th.
The Shore Lunch 250 is scheduled to go green at 9:14 p.m. ET. Coverage of the race will air live on FOX Sports 1 starting at 9 p.m. ET. The broadcast will be simulcast on FLORacing.
