MONTEREY, CA – August 14, 2024 – (Motor Sports NewsWire) – Tom Petty’s 1965 Ford Mustang will be offered at the Bonhams|Cars Quail Auction on Friday August 16. As befitting an American rock star, Petty drove this iconic American Pony Car – a 1965 Ford Mustang resplendent in its original shade of Rangoon Red over a white/red interior. Petty enjoyed this cruiser for nearly 20 years and it remains in excellent running order with many desirable factory options. It is estimated to fetch between $25,000 – 35,000.

Following The Quail Auction, Bonhams will offer over 100 items from Petty’s personal collection in an online sale from August 29 – September 10. Off the Record: Tom Petty will present Petty’s Yamaha Piano, recording console, iconic clothing, in addition to furniture and decorative art from his Malibu homes.

Originating from his Malibu homes, the collection reflects the creative and eclectic spirit of one of America’s most beloved rock ‘n’ roll icons. Petty’s music, known for its authenticity and raw lyrical power, resonated deeply with fans. His unique sense of style, a blend of rock and roll irreverence and bold artistic expression, was not only evident in his iconic album covers and stage fashion but also mirrored in his home decor. His home was a testament to his unique taste, featuring Renaissance-style art, decor pieces with Spanish and Italian influences, spiritual symbols, Chinese paintings and wall hangings, Himalayan sculptures, velvet sofas, and Persian rugs. This eclectic mix, combined with rock posters and works by contemporary street artists like Shepard Fairey, created a Bohemian, laid-back home.
