Williams debutant Franco Colapinto could hardly ask for better conditions to make his first grand prix start this weekend in Monza.
The fastest grand prix weekend of the year is also set to be one of the hottest of the 2024 season.
Following a week after the Dutch Grand Prix when excessively high winds and regular rain on Friday and Saturday added an extra challenge to the event, teams can expect a much more regular weekend in Monza.
There is virtually zero threat of rain affecting proceedings across the three days of track action, with bright and sunny skies expected for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
As a result, this is shaping up to be one of the hottest events of the championship so far. Friday’s first day of practice is likely to dry and hot, with ambient temperatures of 32C expected for the first practice session of the weekend. Despite a later evening start to second practice at 5pm, it should remain just as hot for when drivers conduct their long runs in the second practice session.
Qualifying day on Saturday is expected to be no different, with clear skies expected and temperatures about 30C once again for both the final practice session and qualifying itself at 4pm.
The grand prix on Sunday will, predictably, remain dry as conditions are once again sunny and summery. The race will start at 3pm local time, with ambient temperatures of around 33C expected – making it one of the hottest races of the season so far.
Although the conditions will be very comparable to many of the most recent Italian Grands Prix, if the predicted 33C mark is exceeded on Sunday this could be the hottest race at Monza of the 21st century so far. After heavy winds affected drivers throughout the weekend at Zandvoort, there should be minimal wind to contend with across the three days of running.
