Five drivers emerged victorious at the Race of Champions held at the IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Finals presented by Strange Engineering early Saturday morning at Holly Springs Motorsports. Music City Raceway was represented by two winners, while Quaker City Motorsports Park also had two racers reach the final round.
Aaron Disinger from US41 Dragstrip had the winning combination in the Top (Box) class. He had a .012 reaction time and then posted a 5.922-second elapsed time at 116.25 mph against a 5.91 dial-in. Cody Graham, representing the home track at Holly Springs, was runner-up with a 5.838-second pass at 114.53 mph on a 5.82 dial-in with a .020 start.
Jake Howard from Xtreme Raceway Park was right-on his 6.40 dial-in with a 6.403-second run at 109.17 mph, along with a .023 start, for the Mod (No Box) win. Charlie Lockhart from Gleason Raceway Park was slightly better .020 at the tree. He finished with a 5.642-second run at 122.05 mph on a 5.62 dial-in.
Jordan Johnson, representing Music City, had the terrific .011 start and a 7.691-second pass at 87.34 mph on a 7.68 dial-in to win the Sportsman final. Bruce Tharp Jr. from Quaker City had the 8.326-second run at 85.44 mph on an 8.35 dial-in, along with a .039 reaction time.
Another Music City racer, Billy Warren, qualified for the World Finals through the IHRA Division 2 Summit Team Finals at Holly Springs. The Motorcycle racer had the best start of any of the finalists, leaving in .004 seconds to pair with a 5.566-second run at 126.48 mph on a 5.56 dial-in. Baley Miles from Ethridge Motorsports Park broke out on a 5.79 dial-in by going 5.774 seconds at 123.32 mph.
It was a battle of the Ryans in the Junior Dragster final. Ryan Roberts from Quaker City won on a holeshot .089 to .182 over Ryan Bell from Elk Creek Dragway. Roberts finished in 7.729 seconds at 89.47 on a 7.66 dial-in. His strong start was needed as Bell matched his 7.92 dial-in with a pass at 81.20 mph.
