The season-ending Mid-West Drag Racing Series (MWDRS) event has come alive at Tulsa Raceway Park in the form of the Ronnie Hobbs World Finals. This event was dubbed as MWDRS Throwdown in T-Town and attracted more than 150 racers looking to take home a championship and win at events across different classes. Perfect weather framed for an action-packed weekend of drag racing.
Pro Mod Championship Decided by a Single Round
The Stroud Safety Pro Mod class saw a tense battle for the championship between points leader Keith Haney and Mark Micke. With only 11 points separating them, the championship could have been decided by a single round. Micke ultimately clinched the 2024 title with a 3.668-second pass in the semi-final, besting Ed Thornton’s 3.796. Thornton did, however, achieve the fastest speed of the event at 223 mph. Aaron Wells emerged as the event winner, defeating Micke in the final round with a 3.604-second run.
Whiteley Family Dominates Top Alcohol Funny Car
While Steve Macklyn had already secured the J&A Service Top Alcohol Funny Car championship entering the weekend, the race for second place was wide open. Jim Whiteley claimed the runner-up spot after a strong performance, culminating in an event win against Robbie Massey in the final round. His wife, Annie Whiteley, set the pace for the class, qualifying first with a blistering 3.590-second pass – the quickest of any car at the event.

Eperjesi and Whiteley Triumph in Top Dragster
The Icon Forged Pistons and Race Star Wheels Top Dragster class featured a close points battle between Jeremy Maples and Jordan Eperjesi, separated by just 12 points. Eperjesi’s consistency earned her the championship title. Delaina Whiteley, after a season of strong efforts, finally broke through for her first MWDRS event win.
Moore’s Three-Peat and First-Time Victories in Top Sportsman
Rod Moore cemented his dominance in the Performance Bearing Top Sportsman class, capturing his third consecutive championship – an unprecedented feat in MWDRS history. Moore’s impressive season included wins at three of the seven events. The Throwdown in T-Town saw first-time winners Kirk Piepke and Doug Woody face off in the final round, with Piepke ultimately taking the win.
