In the round-up: Max Verstappen says he can see the appeal of Franco Colapinto to teams considering making a move for him.

In brief

Colapinto “very attractive” to teams – Verstappen

Amid speculation and rumours linking Williams rookie Colapinto to a potential shock move to RB or even Red Bull in 2025, Verstappen says he can see why Colapinto has earned so much attention.

“It’s a bit difficult for me to answer. I’m busy with other things to improve,” he said.

“He’s doing a great job at the moment in Formula 1, so that’s great to see. I understand, of course, that it’s very attractive for a lot of teams to have him, so it’s up to the team also to see what they want to do.”

Lawson “frustrated” to miss out on points

Liam Lawson admits he was “frustrated” to miss out on a point in ninth place in the sprint race after being passed late by Sergio Perez meant he could not catch Pierre Gasly in the Alpine ahead.

“Obviously when you’re defending from a Red Bull, it’s quite difficult,” Lawson told the official F1 channel.

“I think we had the speed today. Just not enough to attack Pierre, who I was basically stuck behind for most of the race. And when a Red Bull comes, it’s obviously quite tricky. So it’s frustrating.”

Power unit problem was “pretty serious” – Hulkenberg

After retiring in the sprint race, Nico Hulkenberg suspects it was more than a minor problem with his power unit.

“There was a lot of smoke, so I suspect there was something related to the power unit,” he said. “The team asked me to stop on track, so must’ve been pretty serious.

“Up until then, it was going actually okay, but I think we were struggling as a team with the tyres. Just high deg, very hot out there. Just faced some very high temperatures, which was making life hard.”
