Dominate No-Prep Drag Racing with Viking’s Crusader Shocks

Viking’s Crusader Shocks

Viking Performance, a trusted name when it comes to shock absorber technology, has showcased its latest innovation at SEMA 2024: the Crusader shocks. These are long-travel shocks designed for no-prep drag racing and are meant to give racers a definitive edge on the track. One of their key characteristics is the amount of travel they offer. Crusader shocks allow up to a whopping nine inches of extension travel, providing for maximum weight transfer at the starting line.

Viking already offers Crusader shocks for many popular muscle cars. For Fox Body Mustangs, for example, a set of Crusader shocks will extend the stroke from seven to nine inches, Third-gen Camaros get an increase from seven to eight inches in stroke. Viking has compatible options for all Mustangs, as well as Fifth- and Sixth-generation Camaros. Perhaps the biggest wins come from the Crusader shocks’ streamlined design. Chris confirms that they’re a direct bolt-in for most applications, though some vehicles will require caster/camber plates to keep their proper alignment settings.

These new shocks work directly with 14-inch springs, including Viking’s own 90-pound version, as well as several low-rate, 16-inch spring applications. Viking’s entry for no-prep drag racing is proof that more and more people are interested in this part of the hobby. No-prep race drivers must contend with various track surface conditions and these new shocks are sure to be a welcome addition. No track preparation typically requires really good car handling and setup. The extra travel and adjustability by Viking Performance’s Crusader shocks will greatly help racers gain an edge in getting a perfect launch and shorter times.

Although the Crusader line of shocks is only available for the front of the car at this time, Viking does offer a full range of adjustable rear shocks as well. This allows racers the ability to fine-tune their suspension setup for maximum performance on the no-prep surface. Viking Performance continues its streak of innovative performance. These shocks will make all the difference for no-prep drag racing enthusiasts as the sport continues to evolve and push forward, and no-prep drivers continue to dominate the tracks.
