Andretti expects ‘changes’ in F1 entry bid

Despite FOM expressing its concern with the Andretti team’s bid to join F1 as its 11th team in 2026, 1978 world champion Mario Andretti has suggested there are developments to come with their entry efforts.

“This is a topic that sees my son Michael and his company as protagonists, not me,” Andretti told La Gazetta dello Sport.

“What I can say is that there will be news and changes and that my full support goes to my son for all the decisions and choices he has made during this period and that he will make in the future to best manage the situation”

Ugochukwu wins Macau qualifying race

McLaren junior Ugo Ugochukwu converted his pole position into victory in a disrupted qualifying race at the Macau Grand Prix.

The R-ace team driver held off the challenge of Oliver Goethe during the race, which was interrupted by multiple Safety Cars and even a red flag. However, the race remained behind the Safety Car after the red flag, allowing Ugochukwu to take the chequered flag first for victory.

The McLaren development driver will therefore start on pole for today’s deciding race, ahead of Goethe and Noel Leon.
