Andretti begins hiring spree amid reports F1 will open its doors to 11th team · RaceFans

Andretti Global has begun recruiting for dozens of positions at its Silverstone base, from where it intends to launch a new Formula 1 team.

The embryonic team still lacks an official entry into the world championship despite being approved by the FIA in October last year following a lengthy application process. Formula One Management, the series’ commercial rights holder which is run by Liberty Media, formally rejected their application in January.

However multiple reports on Friday claimed FOM is poised to reverse its stance and allow Andretti to enter the series in 2026, when new chassis and power unit regulations come into force.

Team founder Michael Andretti, the former Formula 1 and IndyCar driver and son of 1978 world champion Mario Andretti, stepped down from his role last month. His business partner Dan Towriss took over the operation while Andretti remains linked to it as an advisor.

The Silverstone-based team has listed over 30 new factory-based and trackside positions in recent weeks. They range from junior to senior levels and include design, engineering and other corporate roles.

Pat Symonds, previously Formula One Management’s chief technical officer, joined the team in May as a consultant. Its technical director is Nick Chester, who previously held the same position at Alpine.

In November last year Andretti announced Cadillac would become its power unit supplier in 2028, following its entry into F1. Many F1 teams have been resistant to the possibility of enlarging the grid, and therefore diluting their potential earnings, but have been receptive to the possibility of the General Motors brand entering the series.

“And as long as it is accretive, that means we’re growing the popularity of the sport, we’re growing the revenue of the sport, then no team will be ever against it. So I’m putting my hope in there.

“No one from Andretti or Andretti Global or whatever the name will be has ever spoken to me a single sentence in presentation of what the accretive part is. But they don’t need to because the teams don’t decide. It…
