Lewis Hamilton topped both FP1 and FP2 for Mercedes ahead of the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix. Here’s how and when to watch qualifying.
In cold and low grip conditions, Mercedes appeared to enjoy the strongest start with Hamilton fastest in both practice sessions on Thursday night, as F1 returned to action for its season run-in starting in Las Vegas this weekend.
McLaren’s Lando Norris took second place just ahead of the sister Mercedes of George Russell, followed by Ferrari duo Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc.
Both Red Bull drivers missed the opportunity for a soft tyre time attack midway through FP2 due to a red flag caused by Alex Albon’s Williams stopping on track with a fuel system issue.
It meant Max Verstappen dropped to 17th on the FP2 timesheet with his best effort set on medium tyres, while team-mate Sergio Perez was 19th.
Verstappen can seal a fourth consecutive F1 world title this weekend if Norris fails to outscore him by more than two points.
